The lock miter joint is known for making strong posts, columns and similar constructions. It requires precise setup to get the best results, and MicroJig’s Patent Pending Center Finding Platform takes the guesswork out of setting the bit height.
Center Finding Platform
The setup relies on the lock miter profile aligning with the center line of the stock thickness, and our exclusive Center Finding Platform makes it fast and easy to set the bit height accurately. Our Lock Miter Bit is the only one with a measuring point milled into the body of the bit that exactly matches the center of the profile.
Once the bit height is set correctly, adjusting the fence for the best fit is simply a matter of aligning the bit, the stock and the fence. We make it easy to get the best fit the first time or, if needed, by simply adjusting the fence position.
Glue Well:
Our bit features built in “Glue Wells” for better fitting joints. These provide space at the bottom of each groove so excess glue does not prevent the joint from closing fully. Fewer clamps, less fuss, better joints.
